Alpha Engineering & Design (AED) is an engineering and manufacturing leader specializing in vacuum chambers and turnkey systems. We have provided precision manufacturing and engineering to these industries: Aerospace, semi-conductor, solar/wind power, robotics, cryogenics, conveyor, and defense.

AED has been heavily involved with the scientific advancement of the space program for many years. Recent projects have been the latest Hubble service mission, the James Webb telescope, and the WISE satellite.

The WISE program is a NASA-funded explorer mission that will provide an unprecedented warehouse of knowledge about our solar system, the Milky Way, and the universe.

The WISE is an unmanned satellite with an on-board infrared-sensitive telescope. The purpose of the WISE is to chart the whole celestial sky as seen from Earth. The mission is estimated to take six months and 1,500,000 pictures. The WISE is scheduled to launch December 2009.

 In 2007 AED built mock WISE components. The mock components were to be assembled and used in stress testing to qualify it for space flight. All of the pieces were started as solid blocks of spun cast billet aluminum and were machined down to wall thicknesses as thin as 0.030 inch.

AED was proud to have contributed to the WISE program as well as many other space programs. We look forward to our continued contributions to this science.
