Alpha Engineering and Design (AED) is an engineering and manufacturing leader specializing in vacuum chambers and turnkey vacuum systems. This, however, is not all we do. We have provided precision manufacturing and engineering to these industries: Aerospace, semi-conductor, solar/wind power, robotics, cryogenics, conveyor, and defense.

 

During the last several years our focus has been to provide services to alternative energy development. We believe very strongly in this industry and have no doubt that it will be a viable, competitive business for the future.  

Arguably, the single biggest setback to alternative energy is power storage. Lead acid batteries have long provided reliable storage for the world; however, their drawbacks are still quite limiting:

 

·        Limited power storage

·        Large amounts of floor space to store

·        Frequent maintenance

·        Environmentally caustic

 

AED has recently taken notice of flywheel energy storage systems (FES). This technology shows promise with the development of magnetic bearings and the use of vacuum to reduce parasitic loss due to friction.

 We believe that flywheel energy storage systems could be the solution for the storage of large-scale power generated by alternative means. We are researching different companies developing this unique technology. We are looking forward to forging strong partnerships and associations with companies in this industry.

 AED is currently working on an in-house design that would reduce the energy it takes to dry industrial textiles up to 76 percent. Unfortunately, the patent process is long and arduous; we can’t release any more details at this time. We look forward to making a press release as soon as feasibly possible.
